Little Lake

Michigan's Upper Peninsula

About Us

Hi, we are the Martin family! In May 2021, we purchased the Northern Lights Lakeside Resort in Little Lake, Michigan, and reopened the resort as the U.P. Sunrise Cottages.

We live with our three daughters and one superhero son in Gwinn, MI. We are not true born-and-raised Yoopers, but all four of our children are, and you can tell by the way the put on their swimsuits and go play in the snow when the sun comes out and it breaks 45 degrees in the spring. After spending 16 years working with teenagers in the local area, we decided our family was ready for a new adventure, so we purchased the Northern Lights resort from our friends, the Hipskys. The resort is in a beautiful location, with a beach and 300 feet of lakefront on Farmer Lake. Looking across the lake toward the east, we get some beautiful sunrises above the trees.

We enjoy spending time at this gorgeous property, and love sharing it with our guests! Whether you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful lakefront, or take advantage of the area’s many attractions, we are sure this spot is going to be wonderful for your family! We can’t wait to meet you!
